The Stands From listening to Liverpool bands such as the Coral, the
Zutons and the Bandits, it would seem that it's still the sixties over
there. The Stands are no exception to that rule, but where their peers are
making wilfully odd music, they take their influences from the timeless
guitar pop of the Byrds and the Band. They might be forty years late, but
there are very few bands with debuts as consistently good as All Years
Leaving. |

| Central character Howie Payne is, refreshingly, a man more interested in making great music than making a name for himself. Though with his ability to recreate Bob Dylan's easy lyrical style, and with people like Noel Gallagher amongst his fan base, it seems certain that he'll become a leading figure in British music. |
