Josh Rouse
It's a
slightly
worrying fact that, the older I get, the more interested I become in country
music. I'm 22, and already I like Josh Rouse. But what's not to like? His
album 1972 is packed with future classics, from the bouncy Love Vibration to
the mournful Sparrows Over Birmingham. Where Ryan Adams is, to those of us
outside Tennessee at least, the popular face
of modern country music, people like Josh Rouse are the ones who are maintaining the high standards of the genre. |

1972 is Rouse's fourth album - Dressed Up Like Nebraska was his debut, in
1998, and is just as essential is his more recent, well-received work. It is
1972 that has seen him reach a wider audience, but such recognition was long
overdue by that point.
